Quilt Coat



Supplies:
? The Journeyman Jacket pattern by Crinkle Dreams
? Sewing Machine (in good working order with a zigzag stitch)
? Basic Sewing Supplies (scissors, seam ripper, etc.)
? Coordinating Polyester Thread
? Muslin/Quilted Fabric (according to pattern size) – Used to test the pattern for proper fit
o Muslin or other quilting cotton work good for testing the pattern
o A thrifted quilt, mass produced quilt or pre-quilted fabric work best for testing the pattern
? Finished Quilt/Pre-quilted fabric (according to pattern size)
? Binding Fabric 1/3 yard
? Pattern Ease or Swedish Tracing Paper (used in place of cutting your pattern)
? Chalk (Bohin or Dritz Chalk Cartridge Set) or Fabric Marking Pen (Clover Water-Soluble)
? Scissors and/or Rotary Cutter (fresh blade)
? 24” or longer acrylic ruler – used to help trace/cut pattern pieces
? Pins (Flower head work well)
24" + separating zipper
? 90/14 needle recommended for quilt/quilted fabric

Optional Supplies:
? Pattern Weights (holds pattern pieces in place while tracing)
? Wonder Clips (some prefer for holding thicker seams)
? Stiletto (helps hold fabric in place as you approach the needle while sewing)
? Serger (finish raw edges) or you can use a zigzag stitch on your machine
? Walking Foot (some people find this helpful on bulky seams)

Instructor Bio: Morgan is a Minnesota-based sewist with a lifelong passion for creating functional and wearable textile pieces, including bags, quilts, quilted coats, and hoodies. She began sewing in childhood under her mother’s guidance and continued developing her skills independently, with early experience mending garments like her grandfather’s jeans. Known for her thoughtful use of color, Morgan now teaches sewing classes and delivers lectures on quilted jacket construction. She is driven by the joy of transforming fabric into pieces meant to be worn, used, and loved.
